/Wednesday 20th October: please click on the link here for a short video by Professor Brigid Heywood, the UNE Vice-Chancellor & CEO, on the damage sustained by the university during last week’s tornado.
A late-night tornado that hit the regional NSW city of Armidale has caused significant damage after wild weather ripped through much of the state.
The tornado hit around 10pm on Thursday 14th October, leaving a trail of destruction.
The Armidale Research Centre is located on the campus of the University of New England in Armidale. The campus was hit quite hard, and the Vice Chancellor, Dr Brigid Heywood has advised that the campus is closed today, while staff work to remove downed trees, and assess damage to buildings.
All Invetus staff are safe, although some are affected by power outages, so please be patient if you are trying to contact ARC staff today. We are unable to go into the office until further notice, and will be in touch with sponsors if this affects your work.
